Warm greetings! I am Erica Daley, and I am a maker and artist inspired by nature. I work in a variety of mediums including textiles and fibre, paper collage, watercolors, and wood. My work explores texture and design through loosely representational abstract forms, and in writing stories and creating nature-based fantasy worlds.
I grew up on the west coast of the United States and have been a lifelong dreamer with a creative imagination. I spent a great deal of time outdoors as a child playing with rocks, sticks, and leaves, and exploring and observing wildlife. I studied child development in college, and have worked as a teacher and artist. I am married and have a grown son, whom I homeschooled. Teaching and homeschooling allowed me to enjoy childhood well beyond my own years as a child, and I hope I bring a sense of magic and wonder to my work.
Philosophy
I have a profound respect for nature and choose to create in the most eco-friendly manner I can find. I do this by using upcycled materials, exploring ways to make sustainable materials, and researching and making materials based on old methods developed before modern materials were available. I also endeavors to inspire others to be creative in an earth friendly way.
